Mr. Ipinjaro Jacob, a member of Advocate Multi- purpose Cooperative Society and a host of other small-scale cashew farmers in Mopa/Isanlu cluster have for a long time used Bridelia Ferruginea locally known as Ira tree in the western part of Kogi state for pest management. Even though cashew farmers in Kogi state account for about 100 metric tonnes, the largest production from any state in Nigeria Daily Trust (January 20th, 2019), the problems arising from pests affect improving cashew yield in Kogi and across Nigeria.

In Kogi state, rice farmers commonly use rice husks in its raw state as a substitute for fuel, or combine it with other staples to produce poultry feed or spread the ashes of rice husk on their farms so that it decomposes and becomes inorganic fertilizer.
